Sarah was born in Southampton, Long Island and is the child of Richard
Howell Jr., shown in the town census, Sept. 5, 1698, and is mentioned in
his will.
In her mother, Sarah's, will Sarah mentions "My three daughters," Lib. 12,
p. 393, New York.
Her father mentions only one, Sarah, by name. Her grandfather left her a
legacy, as her mother had had her share.
Sarah Howell and her husband, Martyn Rose, are supposed to have been the
first people to be buried in the Water Mill Cem.
